Meet Crystal

Crystal is a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor who focuses on body-image healing through an anti-diet lens, but this wasn't always her approach.

As a former professional dancer and fitness professional, Crystal's own journey began steeped in diet-culture, with body image and self-worth entangled in both her personal and professional approach to health. Thanks to a life-changing book, Intuitive Eating, she has experienced a massive shift that has not only transformed her method of coaching, but also helped her heal her own relationship with her body and with food.

"I initially became a nutrition coach after earning my B.S. in Nutrition Science, and was very much a passenger on the typical "weight loss = wellness" train. This was the health approach that I was indoctrinated into, and unfortunately practiced with my clients. Sadly, it's the paradigm nearly all of us have been brought up to believe in. In my early days of coaching I noticed many of my students and clients experiencing frustration around achieving their desired results— specifically, incorporating both food and movement into their lives in a way that worked and felt sustainable. Mostly, though, they felt that if they weren't achieving a "goal weight" or body shape, that meant they were failing. The traditional, by-the-numbers approach we were working with simply wasn’t cutting it.

At the same time this was happening, I’d embarked on my own meditation and mindfulness journey, and began to wonder how these principles might apply to food and to movement. When I discovered the book Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch, it all just clicked. I am not exaggerating when I say that this book completely transformed my own life, my entire relationship with food, and the way I work with clients. In 2019, I trained directly with one of the founders of Intuitive Eating, Evelyn Tribole, to become a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. I have now seen firsthand that it is possible to create a lifelong relationship with food and body that fosters peace, pleasure, and freedom.

I take a holistic approach to well-being, incorporating intuitive eating and movement with mindfulness tools like journaling, affirmations/mirror work, EFT tapping, and more, to help clients establish trust in themselves, and ultimately become their own healer. By reconnecting with your body’s innate wisdom and building a relationship with her based on respect, you’ll experience a healthier lifestyle, yes, but this is truly only the tip of the iceberg. I firmly believe that building trust with your body, and understanding your relationship with you sets the stage for transformation in all areas of your life. I'm so excited to be on this journey with you!"
