Trauma-Informed Yoga Training with Lauren Rasmussen, M.A., RP (Q), CTP, E-RYT 500, YACEP

I’m Lauren Rasmussen, a
Somatic Trauma Psychotherapist, Certified Trauma Professional, and Experienced Yoga Educator, and I’m deeply passionate about integrating somatic healing, trauma-informed practice, and nervous system regulation into movement spaces. My work centers on helping people reclaim safety in their bodies by understanding how trauma shapes movement, presence, and the ability to connect—both with ourselves and others.

Since 2014, I have been sharing my passion for yoga as a multi-passionate practitioner. My approach combines various resources to empower individuals on their paths of self-discovery and healing. Approaching my work analytically and relationally, I am committed to infusing creativity, clarity, and depth into my practice.

This trauma-informed yoga training is designed for yoga teachers, wellness professionals, and anyone curious about how movement and the nervous system intersect. Together, we’ll explore:

  • The neurobiology of trauma and how it shows up in the body
  • Polyvagal theory and movement as a pathway to regulation
  • Somatic practices for grounding, titration, and co-regulation
  • The role of choice, agency, and interoception in a trauma-informed approach
  • How to cue, sequence, and modify classes through a nervous system lens

Facilitating is one of my strengths, and since 2019, I have co-led numerous 200 hour yoga teacher trainings. By merging my background in psychology, trauma therapy, and nervous system science with my love for yoga, I consistently apply trauma-informed principles in both public and private settings. I believe trauma-awareness should be the standard of care for all practitioners working with clients.

Beyond the Professional Identity

My work is deeply rooted in my own life experiences. Having navigated my own journey of self-reconnection, I know firsthand how movement can be a pathway to safety, agency, and healing. I use these insights to help others reclaim a sense of trust in their bodies, whether that be through individual work, group settings, or mentoring the next generation of trauma-informed yoga teachers.

For me, this work is more than a profession—it’s a life’s mission. My goal is to cultivate a ripple effect of trauma-informed practitioners who approach the world with curiosity, attunement, and compassion. By shifting the paradigm from “What is wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”, we create a more embodied, connected, and resilient world. "
